Getting started with Tribe!

* Join this tribe (group). This will allow you to post questions to the Discussion Board if you get lost or need any help. Plus it will walk you through the signup process quick and easy!

* Keep looking in this tribe's list of members every now and then for more of your friends as they come over from Friendster.

* Look in other tribes (click the Tribes button near the top for a list of them) for other people you know.

* When you find someone you know, you can "friend" them just like on Friendster, except that the "Add [this person] as your friend" button is on the RIGHT-hand side of the page, not the left, and you can actually send them a message at the same time (if you don't want to, just click on the Send button and leave the message empty and they'll simply get a friend request from you.)

To use the Listings ( = Bulletin Board on Friendster) feature click Create a Listing button, select a category and so on, and fill in your listing. You can even put pictures in them! When you submit it, you'll be asked how wide you want the distribution to be (just to your friends, to friends-of-friends too, etc.)

* If you intend to use Tribe for personal ad purposes, you can put your relationship status and what you are looking for in your main profile section, or in the Personal section of it. Tribe does not (presently) operating on the "we're just a glorified personals service" model that Friendster does, so there aren't (yet) any fields specifically for whether you are single, whether you are looking for dating/relationships, and so on. You just type that manually into your profile, at least for now.

* Remember that Tribe isn't just a Friendster competitor, it offers unique features like classified listing (for sale, roommate needed, etc.), and "tribes" with discussion boards and events listing features. The tribes are the best way to meet new people, and to find people on the system that you know already.

* To get more of your friends to sign up, either tell them to go to http://friendster_emigres.tribe.net or you can use the Invite feature (see menu) to invite them directly via e-mail.

* You can also use the Search function (top menu again) to find more of your peeps on Tribe.

* To create your own tribes (groups) you can click the Create a Tribe button on the Tribes page. BEFORE you do so, please search around (you can keyword-search all the tribes on the Tribes page) and make sure that an existing tribe isn't already covering the topic of your tribe idea.

* If you have ideas for Tribe.net, you can join the "Tribe Ideas" tribe and post them there. Bug reports should go to feedback@tribe.net and/or be posted to the "tribe.net Bugs" tribe.

* If you really dig the tribes feature, check the profiles of people you already know on the system for more tribes that might interest you (this can be much easier than trying to read through the entire list of tribes).
